I don't know how the Tall Pile of Crap that is the current Bill could be "comprimised".
The whole thing has to be thrown out and start again by defining the problem(s) that needs to be addressed.
If that problem is providing care for the uninsured, then do that. If the problem is finding a method to subsidize the cost of pre-existing conditions, do that. If it is tort reform or cross state line insurance sales, do that.
Our legislators have shown themselves to be incompetent boobs without the slightest notion of how to control spending, costs or program growth.
Make any bill a "fix" to one, single, solitary issue and nothing else. If this requires 1000 bills to get it done, so be it. The less that is done by any sitting Congress to accomplish anything, the better off we will all be.
A good first law to pass in the upcoming sessions might be that any spending bill to be voted on can be no longer than 14000 charachters. Maybe one full page of single spaced type in 10-point font. In that way, every spending bill passed will be passed on its own merit and not on the endless comprimises that lengthen and attach other unrelated points of legislation.
I wonder how this might affect our tax code...
