Obama Campaign Not Sharing the Money | Care2 Causes
According to Politico, despite requests from other Democratic politicians and groups, the campaign will be keeping their money to themselves. Requests from leaders of the House and Senate, as well as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, are all likely to be denied.
The fear? That their campaign won’t have enough money to take on all of the conservative super PACs likely to come after them, and that there won’t be enough strength in Democratic PACs to take them on.
“The financial caution for the Obama team also reflects the growing power of super PACs, especially for Republicans,” Politico reports. “The groups — technically unaffiliated with any candidate yet already a huge factor in the GOP presidential contest — are prepared to dump tens of millions, possibly hundreds of millions, into the White House race. So far, Democrats, including Obama’s own super PAC allies, have been unable to match that flood of pro-Republican cash.”
