I seemed to have missed the part about the whole threatening to invade Syria with troops part. I thought it was about targeting some assets with cruise missils and perhaps some air stikes. It would make a huge difference in my thinking if an invasion by troops were part of the plan. Could you kindly show us a link or clue us in as to where we might find one.

Do your own homework, Obama stated we would INVADE Syria and sought assistance from Great Britain France and Turkey.

Why did he choose to issue his statement today ? What was the rush? Couldn't he have waited at least until the UN issued their report ? He just gave Syria his word that he would not attack them until at least Congress meets. Why did he give them this time to prepare and maneuver ? He saw the polls, and being the Campaigner-in-Chief instead of the Commander-in-Chief, he needed to get the word out to American's before HIS poll numbers started dropping.

No tactical sense at all. He could have just kept his big mouth shut, waited for the UN results and asked Congress to convene. I don't see the point in basically giving Syria a guarantee that the attack won't occur until at least Congress has voted on it.

I read the war powers act because I too believed that, BUT the war powers act restricts him to only using force without approval first if we are attacked, we are invaded , our military are attacked or there is eminent threat of an attack or invasion.
