"Obama ditches registry focused on immigrant men from Muslim countries"

"The Obama administration announced Thursday it is formally scrapping a once-mandatory registry for immigrant men from predominantly Muslim countries, amid speculation over whether the incoming Donald Trump administration may try to renew it.

The U.S. already had stopped using the program in 2011.

The original National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, or NSEERs, launched about a year after 9/11, requiring men and boys from a variety of mostly Middle Eastern countries to register with the federal government upon their arrival in the U.S. Registration, which also applied to immigrants from North Korea, included fingerprints and photographs and a requirement to notify the government of any address changes."

Whaaaaaaat? You mean a program that calls for Muslim Men to register ALREADY EXISTS? A program Obama himself / his administration also ran until 2011.

B...b...but I thought, according to snowflakes, that this was a brand new racist anti-Muslim idea Donald trump had come up with...and it turns out the United States had already been doing this.

The database on Muslims Trump was criticized for suggesting be created? yeah, it already exists, too:

"However, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a Trump immigration adviser during the campaign, said last month that Trump should renew the DHS database."

"When the Obama administration abandoned the DHS system in April 2011, it said a newer data collection program would be sufficient to collect biometric information for all foreigners coming into the country. At the time, more than 80,000 foreigners were registered."

I am sure not mentioning any of this during their demonization of Trump was just an oversight on the part of snowflakes.

It was a legacy from the Bush administration that was found to be largely ineffective. Trump will now have to create something from scratch. And take the heat for it.

"ineffective" according to who? Bush knew who the majority of the hijackers were within hours after the attack on 9/11 before the registry was ever built. Trump won't have to create anything...more FAKE NEWS. Obozo can't delete the registry...that would be willful destruction of government property. We all know he's been nothing more than a trojan horse for the muslim brotherhood from the beginning. Let him try to close GITMO before he pardons the hag...nobody is paying any attention to the creep anymore.

Thank you for that information, but you seemed to have missed my point. The idea of a registry for Middle Eastern men, for which Trump was demonized over by liberals, is a program that was already being used by the Federal Government...even by Barry himself.

So either the liberals attacking Trump over the registry idea were / are ignorant to this information, that such a program already existed, OR they are humongous hypocrites who don't care that it already existed.

Trump will have to create something from scratch? Not at all - that's why he has been advised to REVIVE the program. Are you suggesting that on the way out the Obama administration will delete the entire database of Muslims in this country that has been created and maintained for years?

Man the media is straight left wing propaganda. This whole time they've been acting like this would be an unprecedented move by Trump.

It's a program that was put in place after 9/11 and barry doesn't use it anyway.

That's okay, Trump will make something better.

The various intelligence agencies, that's why they ended it's implementation.

They ended it because they are traitors to the US and they want to see us inundated with criminal, murderous villains from shitholes.

Actually Barry used it until 2011, as the article states, at which time he dumped it.

Evidently in 2011 Muslims entering the country from locations infested with terrorists and nations that are notoriously known for hating the United States stopped being a threat.

"Intelligence agencies" is an oxymoron.

There isn't a single intelligence agency that is a legal organization. They ARE the criminals.

Every muslim born elsewhere is already listed in several of our data bases, from ICE to the INS. Barry is playing to the moron crowd in his last few weeks of power by springing black drug dealers from prison and sending GITMO al-Qaida captives back to join ISIS. He cut off drilling rights and threw mining companies impossible new regs to follow. Trump had to intervene to back off the UN from condemning Israeli settlements because our muslim moron wasn't going to veto it. He'll do everything he can think of to hurt this country before he's gone....I bet he'll piss on the WH carpets on the way out the door.

The registration program was ended in 2003: Arab, Muslim Registry Used Once Before

The furor over Mr. Trump’s remarks echo the controversy last decade about the special registration program. The effort was a lightning rod for criticism even in the days after 9/11 when the American public was inclined to give the government broad latitude on security issues.

“It’s hard to say whether there was any real gain out of the special registration program,” said Muzaffar Chishti, the director of the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute’s office at New York University School of Law and an expert on immigration and labor law.

Mr. Chishti noted that the government has never pointed to any terrorists captured or plots foiled by the program and many of the records regarding it are still sealed. "More importantly, it was seen has having affected our reputation abroad, especially in the Muslim world," he said.

Several lawsuits were brought against the special registration requirement—arguing that it was discriminatory and violated constitutional protections. In a 2008 decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld the constitutionality of the program long after it had ended, calling it “a plainly rational attempt to enhance national security.”

"The individuals subject to special registration under the Program were neither citizens nor even lawful permanent residents. They were asked to provide information regarding their immigration status and other matters relevant to national security. They were not held in custody for appreciable lengths of time," the court ruled.

The special registration program was ended in 2003 after complaints from civil libertarians. The entire NSEER requirements were ended in 2011. But the Obama administration left the regulation on the books— only removing all the countries from the list. “It could come back at any point,” Mr. Ayoub, whose group has been harshly critical of the program since 2002. "There is precedent for future administrations to bring this program back."

NOTHING your media says is true and we all know it. They will pay the price for their lying and intentional omissions by drowning in a sea of red ink and presidential revenge in the coming years. If you strike at the king you must kill the king....they couldn't.

Department of Homeland Security (I was wrong in saying "various intelligence agencies): Former Homeland Security Staffer Says Muslim Registry Is "Easy" To Reinstate But "Ineffective"

Brown, who overall worked at DHS from 2005 through 2011 and is now director of immigration policy at the Bipartisan Policy Center, told BuzzFeed News “I’m not sure I understand the rationale for it now.”

She added that NSEERS was “costly and ineffective” and that there was “a lot of confusion around the program.” For instance, registered individuals were supposed to periodically check in with local Immigration officers, but “people weren’t given the proper follow-up information,” Brown said.

Brown recalls that the program did lead to a few thousand deportations — mostly for individuals who had overstayed their visas. No suspected terrorists or terrorist plotters identified through the system were prosecuted, she said.

Did you bother to read it? The Wall Street Journal is not considered liberal.

Do I need to resort to trash like InfoWars or the National Enquirer?

Wait a sec - are you saying that the media is not allowed to say anything critical of the president?
