Even in 'Red' States Obama Has Big Lead Over McCain in Newspaper Endorsements

NEW YORK We have been chronicling, and updating daily, the national count of editorial endorsements for the two presidential candidates. With today's update pending, Barack Obama leads John McCain by 121-42. Obama, of course, is swamping McCain in support from papers in "blue" states. The big surprise is that he is also beating him in a landslide in "red" GOP states.
By our count, Obama leads 48 to 28 in states that went for Bush in 2004.
We had noted earlier that the two candidates split the top papers in bright red Texas.
