NOT the Onion.

The White House and the Canadian government have released a new joint plan for how the two countries will go about regulating potential drilling, mining and other such energy endeavors in the Arctic — a decision-making process that will now use “indigenous science and traditional knowledge” to understand how to mitigate the effects of global warming.

President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced their new Arctic strategy as part of an overall plan for both countries to meet the pledges they made to the United Nations to fight global warming.

"Traditional knowledge" would dictate that coal, oil, and natural gas are as much a gift from the Great Spirit as are the mountains lands wildlife and waters.

This is just another one of Obama's fucking dog and pony shows. Screw that ass hole.

Of greater concern is the EPA's unwarranted rampage against methane emissions from oil and gas operations in the lower 48. This will surely be the last nail in the coffin of the industries that make all other industries function.

I wonder if Obama is aware of the Eskimo folklore that says the glacier bay glacier advanced over 60 miles in just a few years.

White people get mad when after years of fucking up the environment they find out the natives had it right the whole time.

Especially whitey telling them they can only do baby seal clubbing a few weeks a year.

Are you a big supporter of the fur seal trade? Then I'd have thought you'd have been aware that the Canadians made it illegal to kill baby harp seals in 1971.

From Wikipedia

It is illegal in Canada to hunt newborn harp seals (whitecoats) and young hooded seals (bluebacks). When the seal pups begin to molt their downy white fur at the age of 12–14 days, they are called "ragged-jacket" and can be commercially hunted.[5] After molting, the seals are called "beaters", named for the way they beat the water with their flippers.[6]The hunt remains highly controversial, attracting significant media coverage and protests each year.[7] Images from past hunts have become iconic symbols for conservation, animal welfare, and animal rights advocates. In 2009, Russia banned the hunting of harp seals less than one year old.

Is it okay with you if the Canadian government tells Canadian citizens what they can and cannot do? Rule of Law, I think they call that.

You're naive with about everything, aren't you? Ignorance makes it easy to hold your views, but do try to educate yourself.

Activists urge Justin Trudeau to phase out Canada's failing seal industry

That would be quite a trick, given that Inuit or Yupik have never lived in the area. And do enter the 21st century. "Eskimo" is about as perjorative as "Indian" now.

Now, the Tlingit have lived there. And they have oral legends of a glacial advance. Which corresponds perfectly with the science that showed a glacial surge there 300 years ago, during the little ice age. Currently, most of the glaciers there are retreating fast.
