My opinion is that the VA, as it exists today, is obsolete.
There's no reason that a veteran shouldn't be able to go to their local medical/mental health facilities and receive the timely, quality care that they deserve, and have it paid for by the Gov't. This would probably be more efficient and cost-effective than maintaining VA-dedicated operations. Even if it cost slightly more to do this, we wouldn't have our veterans passing away before their sometimes months-long wait for treatment.
