The constitution says only congress can declare a war. Congress cannot write a law to rewrite the constitution as claimed in this article. You have to go thru the amending process as spelled out in the constitution.

  • july 5 2025 Then-U.S. President Barack Obama dropped more than 26,000 bombs on seven countries — Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen — in 2016 alone. We determined this by looking at data from the U.S. Air Force, Council for Foreign Relations, the Long War Journal and the New America Foundation.
  • Obama did not obtain an act from Congress to conduct his military operations; however, his actions were not illegal. Congress passed a broad 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force to approve war against al-Qaida and the Taliban, which Obama relied on to justify his military activities. However, Obama stretched use of the 2001 AUMF to target militant groups that either did not exist on Sept. 11, 2001, or were not al-Qaida affiliates.
  • U.S. presidents have repeatedly conducted military activities in other countries without seeking approval from Congress. President Donald Trump justified military activities during his first administration by citing the AUMF as well.

Bombing countries is not declaring war.

As I have posted here before...(I don't feel like looking it up) but I am pretty sure the president can conduct military operations freely for a week or two as Congress votes to extend his / her / it's war powers.

He also won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. A confirmation that global leaders care little.about human lives as long as they can maintain their global socialist agenda, lead at that time by China.

Actually, bombing a country is illegal unless there is already a declaration of war.
But Obama had the Joint Resolution for the Use of Force in Iraq that Congress passed, and allowed for what Obama did.

We do not need a decleration of war to legally bomb another country

Do you have a link ?

I am changing my search engine from google to Brave.

Unless it is in my PC itself....google is as bad as having the clap when I try and find stuff.

Interesting article and fairly balanced considering the source.

WPR = The War Powers Resolution

Nonetheless, said Stephen Griffin, professor of constitutional law at Tulane Law School if hostilities between Iran and the U.S. extend beyond the WPR’s 60-day limit, “President Trump may well be in violation of the WPR, just as Republicans argued when the same circumstances occurred in the Clinton and Obama presidencies.”

I know what the link says, you moron, and it is wrong. If you want to let presidents declare war, you have to amend the constitution and that wasn't done. THINK

I suggest you delete that preposterous post.

You confederates are all the same !

Maybe you are not up on it but the Civil War was over states rights and the rebels lost. That means your opinions are probably not up with things either. Because a whole lot of blood was spilled to EST our political system.

I suggest you think before you hit the send button !

75? Where did we get 75? I thought we dropped 14 bombs and sent 30 missiles.

And a relatively few (me for one) condemned both Obama and Trump. (and Bush and Biden).
