The linked article outlines the troubles we have had with Egypt ever since their opposition to Bush's Iraq War in 2003.

I can't say for sure that the election of Sisi was legit or not, but he has not been acting as a friend of the U.S., worthy of the billions he gets from U.S. taxpayers. He's been holding journalists for months on trumped-up charges, and his human rights record sucks.
