For those who follow the Christian music scene, you might have heard, but the O.C. Supertones are calling it quits. This is one of my top 5 favorite bands, so I am pretty upset. Apparently Ethan Luck (guitar) is looking to play with some other bands, their trumpet player (Chief) left the band to be a youth pastor, and Matt Morginsky (vocals) is looking to go to seminary.
For those who like the Bosstones, the Supertones are somewhat of the Christian equivalent, releasing three great ska albums in the 90's. When ska faded out in the late 90's, the Supertones adapted and came out with a bit edgier sound in 2000. In 2002, they released a live album, and another studio CD that was kind of a Blues Brothers rock sound (not my favorite). Last year, they released their newest, "Revenge of the O.C. Supertones," which was a great rock/ska album. They are planning a farewell tour this year. But I'll be sad to see these guys go. Their music was inspiring as well as fun!
