NYC Schools Closed

Well.. they are closed -- TOMORROW.

Yes, I know we're supposed to get 6 to 12 inches tonight.

But I've never heard of school being closed BEFORE the storm.

Anyone ever hear of such a thing?

They closed all the private Catholic schools here yesterday because of the Super Bowl, and made that decision last week.

Sometimes in a weather emergency like this they will close before the storm hits (because they are almost positive it will hit ) early so families can prepare for what to do with the kids. (for parents who can't stay home during snowstorms and such)

They have done that here a few years ago too.

Ah.. ok. According to our parent/teacher coordinator they haven't done it in NY in her entire life.

Not that it's a bad thing. Just really weird.

I wished they'd do that here. We all know a foot to a foot and a half of snow is going to fall for 24 hours, starting tonight sometime around 7pm or so. Just put that phone chain auto-message thingy into action now and save everyone from getting up at 5a.m. tomorrow morning to find out . . . school is closed!

It's not that I'm unhappy. It's that I've never heard of them doing that before.
