NY Still Can't Run A Simple, Transparent Election - Board of Elections Retracts Vote Totals Due to a “Discrepancy”

Idiots. This plays right into the hand of the vote conspiracy theorists.

Idiots. Those running this election should never be allowed anywhere near an election again.

Yep. Coulda saw this coming a mile away.
Probably should have given ranked choice a bit more thought before they decided to experiment with it.

I completely agree with this. You do not change the way we vote without a lot of input and consideration AND maybe even some dry runs.

'The NYC Mayoral primary devolved into chaos after the Board of Elections announced there was a “discrepancy” in the vote count.

The vote tally Tuesday afternoon showed Eric Adams leading Kathryn Garcia by approximately 16,000 votes.

Then all of a sudden the New York City Board of Elections released a statement announcing there was some technical difficulties in counting vote tallies.'

“The vote total just released by the Board of Elections is 100,000-plus more than the total announced on election night, raising serious questions,” the Adams statement says. “We have asked the Board of Elections to explain such a massive increase and other irregularities before we comment on the Ranked Choice Voting projection. We remain confident that Eric Adams will be the next mayor of New York because he put together a historic five-borough working class coalition of New Yorkers to make our city a safer, fairer, more affordable place.”

'A few hours later election officials retracted their vote totals.'

Now the Board of Elections in NY said there was a 'glitch' that caused 135,000 'TEST' ballots were included....

I wonder if this 'error' would have been found if someone had not have noticed and brought it up?!

OH PLEASE STOP CRYNG..... you're going to see a lot more of this before it is finally outed. Sydney Powell said that Dominion sold a number of elections nation wide to both parties...... it's only a matter of time before the stench of the dead bodies can no longer be covered up and Dominion will soon have competition to deal with...this is just the beginning.

JO

Said it and was unable to prove anything despite audit after audit even in Republican states.

I wonder how much consulting they did before they decided to to this? I know the Irish do ranked choice. But their elections are carried out over a number of days...not tried to cram into one day..even though the vote counting lasted longer than a day in NYC.

After trying to describe nefarious purposes to the error discovered in the first attempt for New York City to run a ranked ballot election, Sleazy asks the dumbest question and a long history of incredibly dumb questions:

“I wonder if this 'error' would have been found if someone had not have noticed and brought it up?!”

Gee Sleazy, if nobody noticed or was aware there was an error, how could they possibly raise the issue?

What’s even more laughable is that Sleazy fails to realize that just the fact that an error was both discovered and acknowledged blows his argument that election results can’t be trusted right out of the water.

While I agree that the error never should have happened and that it should have been found BEFORE results were made public, it’s also needs to be stated that this is the first time a mayoral primary in New York has used a ranked ballot system, and the city doesn’t have the best history on election processes, I CD was expecting much worse.

LOLOLOLOL.....Like I said before Dominion sells primary results to the highest bidder as well....hahahahaha
OMG...this is soooooo good......... and all the lefties on this board keep asking for EVIDENCE! EVIDENCE! EVIDENCE!.....hahahahahah
I am literally Laughing my ass off on the other side of this screen.... It was only a matter of time before dominion ended up screwing the wrong Dem..
Hell they- screwed Bernie twice and he just took it.

JO

There is NO evidence of cheating here. There is evidence where they screwed up and it was caught.

In fact, it shows incompetence, not malfeasance. But of course right wing media always spins everything into Democratic corruption to steal elections to support Trump’s narrative and their current voter suppression legislation.

And at best they played right into to. Idiots.

The three remaining contenders in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary have all filed lawsuits demanding a potential recount of the June 22 ranked-choice election vote, the winner of which has still not been determined.

“It is without precedent in a New York City mayoral race or any citywide office,” said election attorney Stanley Schlein, who represents former Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia in her legal action against the NYC Board of Elections (BOE).

Civil-rights lawyer Maya Wiley sued Thursday in Brooklyn state court requesting that all the ballots that were “cast or attempted to be cast” be preserved for a possible review.

“This is a wide open race and as is standard procedure, my campaign filed a petition to preserve the right to challenge the results should we believe it is necessary,” Wiley said in a statement Friday.

Brooklyn Borough president and former police captain Eric Adams, who still leads the Democratic-primary contest, filed a similar suit Wednesday. Adams outpaces Garcia by just over two percentage points, amounting to 14,755 votes, as of the latest ranked-choice ballot drop, but there are many absentee ballots still outstanding and waiting to be counted.

The candidate lawsuits come after the NYC BOE admitted to erroneously updating vote totals by accidentally adding 135,000 test ballots.

The BOE released its statement after the candidates’ campaigns noticed a sudden surge in the vote total of 100,000 plus, shrinking Adams winning margin significantly. Before the BOE published an explanation for its blunder, Adams questioned the “discrepancies” and “irregularities” in the results after losing ground.

Adams objected to the original introduction of the ranked-choice system for the NYC mayoral election, arguing that it would complicate the voting process and disenfranchise minority voters.

Seems like the NYC wing of the Dems may be trying to screw Adams. Adams has come out campaigning on a pro police agenda to clean up the mess NYC has become. Much to the chagrin of the AOC wing of the party. They want their anti-cop puppet in there, but the people of NYC know that crime is the biggest problem and want something done.

We're seeing a unique situation here in Buffalo as well. The "presumptive" Democrat mayor candidate, India Walton, has campaigned on a "defund the police" platform, much to the chagrin of the PBA and the good citizens of Buffalo. Mayor Brown, as much as I dislike his weaselness, will wind up getting my vote because he supports the cops. He's launching a write-in campaign.

Wonder who it was that started this trend..if you lose an election contest the results, demand a recount and sue to have results thrown out if that fails..yup, wonder who?

In 2016, Bernie trounced Hillary in NH, and then in Iowa something did not smell quite right....

DWS - Hillary wins Iowa
Bernie - what were the vote totals
DWS - fuck off, we do not have to disclose them

In 2020, again it was Bernie winning early, and traitor Joe getting stomped. So the DNC put foot to throat on Petey, klobuchar, and others to drop out and kiss traitor joe's butt. Traitor Joe really did not win. The DNC stopped Bernie by using thuggy undemocratic means....

Anyone who thinks democrats are actually capable of participating in an election without cheating is not paying attention....

Election cheating has become the trademark of the Democrat party. This is why there must be audits of all the state presidential election results. It becomes easier for Democrats to cheat every time they get away with another fraudulent vote count. I'm just glad that this cheating was uncovered in a Democrat primary. If a Republican was bringing these allegations in a general election, Dems and the MSM would paint it as conspiracy theory. The Dem. party and our media are corruptly out of control.
