A federal law enforcement source told Newsweek the suspect was previously known to the FBI, having been entered into the Guardian Lead system in New Mexico.The system is the FBI's way of coordinating information from other law enforcement partners about potential terrorism-related threats and suspicious activity reports. He was cleared after multiple interviews in 2019.

Makes their gun control narrative crumble. This is exactly our point, even if guns are controlled, criminals will still get to them. I can bet that if there were guns allowed in NYC, someone would’ve been carrying and could’ve neutralized the threat before that much damage was done.

They caught his face clearly on a camera as he was leaving the subway station. Apparently he turned in the tip that got himself arrested to boot.
