NPR sues Trump over executive order cutting federal funding

Is anyone actually defending the premise that this is a First Amendment issue?

NPR sues Trump over executive order cutting federal funding

Yep, they are going to try to fight the federal government rather than merely comply with fair and balanced reporting!

The Pres. of NPR said it best: She reserves the right to slanted and biased reporting even though it violates the terms for getting federal grants, as vital to their definition of "free speech."

If the NPR can afford to launch such frivolous lawsuits, why can't they afford to pay their own way instead of relying on the taxpayers?

And this has nothing to do with "free speech" or the 1st Amendment, this is about money and whether NPR is entitled to that money which comes from the taxpayers.

NPR is more than welcome to denounce America if they want, but to do it on their own dime.

How’s not funding npr with tax dollars violate their free speech?

How’s not funding a state media authoritarian? Very weird.

Using these tactics to try and intimidate NPR is part and parcel to Trump’s ongoing attempts to bully and intimidate the press in general.

An essential authoritarian tactic. Hitler did it, and so is Trump.

President Trump wants to take away their federal funding, not their right to say what they want to say.

How many times do you cultists have to hear that before it begins to sink into your smooth brains?

.
It won't, no matter how often they hear it. The narrative is set and they will not depart from it. Facts need not apply.

That's hilarious!

I can't wait until you cultists actually perceive the depth of what President Trump is doing.

You're going to embrace those nice mental institutions.

“Fair and balanced” reporting. Wasn’t that the slogan that Fox Noise used to paste on its political marketing and right wing talking points?

Why don’t you explain it to us.

Why should US tax payers fund a left wing propaganda news outlet? Regardless, surely you realize that they will LOSE this absurd lawsuit, right? In what world is a court going to force the US government to continue funding NPR? Why? What makes them so special? No one else is getting this deal, so what gives?
Becuase those funds have already been allocated by Congress, and there is a post Nixon Federal Law that makes it illegal.

He will lose this one but going forward he can try and keep the funding out of future bills.
The Democrats can come back and restore PBS and NPR funding and Trump will still win because he further exposed government waste in funding media. Most of Public Broadcasting Corporation’s funding comes from “underwriting” ( advertisements). There is no financial or economic justification for publicly-funded media this day in age.

I used to watch PBS all the time and donate when they had fund raising programming, after which they had announcements of who all their corporate sponsors were.

And then I grew up and realized how they were insulting me.

Are they entitled to that funding?
