Connie Kalitta owns an airline. He has for decades been drag racing. His family also drives his cars. I only heard of Sean Langon by watching some YouTubes and I am a huge fan of John Force racing cars, including his daughters, Brittany. Sean Recently in Florida broke Forces daughter record. She went around 343.16 miles per hour in 1,000 feet. Sean went faster.

I know why they switched to it, but I'm just not a fan of any drags less than .25 miles.

I can see both sides.....way to fast in a 1/4 but do you restrict speed?

I dunno. It isn't as interesting at the shorter length.
I think lower classes, maybe.

Let the top fuelers have 1000'.

So much work and money for such a short ride though.

The extra 330 feet would do what for top speed? ET would be more!

I'm not very educated when it comes to drag racing's rules, reasons etc.

As a spectator, I grew more familiar with the quarter-mile runs, and I just find them more enjoyable.

The 1000' runs just seem like they don't even get out of 1st gear.

3.5 seconds is just boring when it take 20 minutes minimum to get the next set staged.

top feulers don't have transmissions.

I used to drag race at 5 of the drag strips. I am a bit up to date such as they cut from 1320 feet to 1000 feet to give them time to stop. Too many cars finished the race and could not stop in time safely.

If you are in the stands, I don't see the problem.
Top fuel dragsters like Kalitta's and Forces are just a spectacle. Nothing like them in other cars.

I've never been to any drags above the weekend "bracket" races at the local strip.

Some of them would let drivers take their daily drivers out to see what they could do. Though I never tried.

1/8 mile tracks are good for bracket racing.
They can get a lot more runs in.
And it is easier on the cars and safer.

The last drag race I went to at Sonoma Race Track, the distance was 1/4 mile. But dragsters have got a lot faster and hit higher speeds now so if I go again, it will be 1,000 feet long.
