In a Republic, actually
‘An editorial in a Maine newspaper took direct aim at Donald Trump Saturday after the president issued a direct threat to the state. The Bangor Daily News’ editorial board issued its scathing putdown after Trump directed comments to the state’s Democratic governor, Janet Mills, as she attended a White House luncheon Friday.

He hit out because Maine has refused to change laws regarding transgender athletes in student sports. “You’d better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funding at all if you don’t,” he told her. When she hit back with, “I’m complying with state and federal laws,” Trump told her, “we are the federal law.”

“No sir, you are not the federal law,” the newspaper schooled him. “Congress, not the president, writes and amends the laws of the United States. Congress, not the president, allocates funding to federal agencies and programs. Federal courts are upholding these core tenets of our democracy as Trump seeks to undermine them.”

The editorial board had nothing but praise for Mills, and how she politely refused to back down to Trump’s attack. “The governor’s message was simple: Maine will follow the law,” the board wrote. “She didn’t get into her personal feelings about transgender athletes or any other American. Because her personal feelings don’t matter. The governor, like the president, is responsible for upholding laws that protect the rights of all Mainers and all Americans.’

Opposition to Trump reckless, irresponsible, authoritarian agenda continues – denounced by both elected officials and the American people.

That'll show him.

When all is said and done about the Trump sequel era, everyone will remember the editorial in a Maine newspaper.

Thinks literally nobody.

However, we will enjoy the return of Maine to the red column.

So thanks for taking asinine stands on asinine issues.

You make MAGA stronger every time.

She should give seminars on how to kill your political career.

An editorial has far more usefulness as toilet paper, than it does anything else.

It's only an opinion. :laughing0301:

Maine newspaper issues Trump civics lesson

Oh boy! Put Trump right in his place! Well, BYE BYE to all your federal aid SUCKAS, as Trump is a coequal branch to the Congress and while they legislate, the Exec issues Executive Orders on an equal footing. Trump is the Executive Office of the federal government, honey. Tell Maine they just kissed their federal aid goodbye. Hope they don't have any emergencies up there anytime soon, neither, Petunia.

More "Raw Story" rhetoric? The big question is whether Maine and the Maine media is willing to risk federal funding to support the agenda of an estimated 2% of mentally impaired Americans who think they belong to a different gender.
Wasn't WKRP supposed to be in Portland, Maine?
I heard it was called "Home of The Turkey Drop".
Oh fuck, I got my shows mixed up.
I was thinking about "Hello, Larry".
Yah, I was. This isn't even the best intro I had in mind, but whatever.
I think it's supposed to be in Maine.

But then again, you might just realize that Trump is busy doing what he is able to do to return this republic back to the ACTUAL rule of law under our Constitution. Therefore, Maine is going to get its ass kicked in this one.

I’m ok with that.

And spend untold millions of their constituents tax dollars in the process, possibly taking months or years, just for the benefit of the 2% at the expense of the 98%, just because it sticks in their craw taking orders from Trump, which is really what this is about.

Because if Biden were in office and rescinded the transgender law, they would just comply, citing "no choice" in the matter.
