This is such an important point that no one ever brings up. People who cross the border illegally are essentially cutting the line.

I just witnessed someone have a major meltdown because someone else cut the line in the drive through at McDonalds. Imagine you are living in 3rd world conditions but you follow the rules for US immigration, then you find out others cut the line and are welcomed to sanctuary cities.
