Government yesterday vowed to grab all farms owned by the remaining white former commercial farmers and ruled out joint ventures involving whites.

Addressing chiefs during the handover of A2 (small-scale commercial farm) offer letters to traditional leaders in Mashonaland East province yesterday, Provincial Affairs minister Joel Biggie Matiza said government’s new land policy was set to benefit diplomats, chiefs, war veterans, civil servants and others who missed out at the launch of the land reform program in 2000 because of rampant corruption.

Speaking at the same occasion, Lands and Rural Resettlement minister Douglas Mombeshora also said government would not allow contract farming arrangements where the indigenous farm owners would get only 10% of total produce while their white partners grabbed the lion’s share. […]

He said white former farmers should be given 90 days to vacate their farms if the land has been allocated to a black person to avoid legal battles. …

Both regimes. Mugabe's regime doesn't in any way diminish the horrible racism experienced under the Rhodesian state. In fact, it helps explain why we've seen its emergence in Zimbabwe.

We have examples of that in our history such as in Kenya, Rhodesia and South Africa, etc. The world did eventually flip out, and to be fair they are currently flipping out over Zimbabwe, so I'm not really sure what the point is. Zimbabwe isn't very popular internationally. In fact, we have treated Zimbabwe with more hostility than we treated apartheid South Africa at various points in its existence.

It was the international suggestion that they not expel all of the white farmers. Mugabe received the same advice from African countries like Tanzania as well. Your accusation of some grand double standard in this case is misplaced.

That was indeed the language of the day, but at least many European generals back then admitted that they engaged in slaughter, even if they did justify said slaughter via the civilizing mission rhetoric (though each European state used different propaganda tactics for different parts of their African conquests). this guy can't even be honest enough with himself to admit that there was widespread slaughtering of civilians by European armies.

Feeding Zimbabwe is helping Mugabe hold power. Zimbabwe sits on some of the most fertile land in the world. The west should not ship UN gruel over to feed the people.
