Time after time we hear from liberals about how only the poor, the disadvantaged and the minorities are forced to go to war. How about this:
SC Gov. Haley's husband deploys with National Guard
'How about' you cite a liberal authority that used the word only when describing those serving overseas.
This example of a relatively more privileged person serving in the military doesnt undermine the fact that indeed most who serve come from less advantaged backgrounds, as military service is often the only way out for those coming from low income families.
It also doesnt negate the value of a debate as to why risking ones life in war overseas is often the only option for many of Americas young people, and what that says about the state of our Nations education system, or the value we place on education as a Nation.
Otherwise, the premise of your argument is predicated on the fallacy of hasty generalization, and the argument fails accordingly.
Since there is no conscription (draft) all military personnel are in uniform of their own choosing, nobody forced to join, but they all realize that once they signed up, they must follow orders.
You seem to forget that many of military volunteers have - for whatever reason - education that would not enable them to attain jobs that people with higher education do. So, they took the advice, and decided to try to be the best they can be, and enrolled.
The fact that they realized that serving their country even while under extreme danger, already puts them on an infinitely higher plateau than those who decided to stay home, deal drugs, collect food stamps, join gangs and vote Democrat in the hope free phones and cash from Obama's stash. They realized that military option maybe the only option out for those coming from low income families, and they were honest and brave to take that option.
And as far as education is concerned, if the unionized liberal indoctrinators, laughingly known as teachers were a bit more concerned about education of their students than their bloated tax-payer supported pension and three-month vacation each year, maybe then the students' graduation diploma would truly represent literacy and enable the students to aim higher than the military you liberal love to denigrate.
Look up on the web how John Kerry denigrated people "stuck in the military" or some such. You know, the same John Kerry who tossed his unearned medals over the White House fence.
