In reality the NCAA football and basketball program is simply a subsidy for the NFL& NBA. These billion dollar businesses get the Darwinism of the sport recruiting with zero investment. Baseball , hockey, and other sports have A. AA. AAAA. and other investments to find players. Originally college sports was simply a way to scholarship students to get degrees and create doctors and engineers. Now it is not about academics but simply to hope for wealth on the backs of young disposable people

I seriously doubt people would flock to Alabama to attend college if it weren't for their sports program. I am pretty sure Alabama engineers mostly work with duct tape and WD40.
