For all of MSNBCÂ’s efforts to promote public policy on education, the graphics department at that network might be proof there is a lot of work that needs to be done in this area.
During Alex WittÂ’s 7 a.m. program on Saturday on the channel, Alabama was labeled as Mississippi and Mississippi as Alabama.
MSNBC has had its problems in the past in this department — that is, whenever elections forced their attention to spots on the map. In 2009, during a segment anchored by then-MSNBC host Norah O’Donnell about Virginia’s gubernatorial race, West Virginia was labeled as “Virginia.”
In 2008, “The Rachel Maddow Show” was off by a state — labeling Illinois as Indiana in the run-up to the 2008 election.
