But I don’t think this is the way to go,” Sahm said. “This is a literacy exam. If you’re going to be a teacher in New York state, this is a criteria you should be able to meet.”

Mhm...our oldest daughters are on the school debate team, if it wasn't so sad it would be comical when they go up against inner city public school debate teams. Unprepared, ill informed and they can't carry themselves well

If you are interested in becoming a teacher in New York, the New York StateEducation Department Office of Teaching Initiatives (518-474-3901) expects that you complete an approved teacher preparation program in the state, and hold a bachelor's degree at minimum.

And you can bet the teachers union is 110% behind this. One of the most despicable organizations in America that causes the greatest harm is the Teachers Unions.
Lots of school systems allow for grace periods for teachers who repeatedly fail their praxis tests. Grace periods are often extended depending on teacher shortages.Love all the comments from those on this thread who wouldn't qualify for a state teaching program.
