The legalized-marijuana movement will likely welcome the news Wednesday that two prominent former politicians are joining a cannabis company.


John Boehner, former Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, and Bill Weld, a former Republican governor of Massachusetts who was the 2016 running mate of Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson, are joining the advisory board of Acreage Holdings, which owns cannabis licenses and assets in the 30 states where cannabis is approved for medical or recreational use.


Boehner tweeted that he was making the move because his thinking on cannabis has evolved, and that treating it more leniently under the law could help in the battle against America’s opioid crisis.

I have some very practical questions.

If MJ is legalized, does that mean that smokeable weed is the order of the day? I thought that a large percentage of the stuff (most of it) is consumed in other form, such as pills, cookies, and other food products.

There is all kinds of bullshit including licensing growers of pot, etc. I don't see why America just doesn't import grass from Jamaica, Columbia and Mexico, instead of wasting precious land to grow it here.

Weed travels well, no need to waste land that we could be using to grow food that doesn't travel as well right here. Further, America has traditionally relied on our friends to the south for marijuana, they already have the farms and infrastructure available to move the product from seed to plant, and harvested and put into the plastic baggies for the final consumer.

All the studies indicate that marijuana is in general that's harmful because it is not as addictive as the nicotine and cigarettes the amount of people smoke to make a big difference people smoke to get high they don't need to keep smoking to stay high they're high for quite a while nicotine on the other hand that cravings are endless for the smoke more and more.
