But if the patient wants it (and is of sound mind) and all parties agree to it, what would be your objection to it?Not at all. I'm against someone else doing it to them.
It is deceptive phrasing, "physician assisted suicide", making it sound like a healthy person wishes to end their life, when all you are doing is sparing someone from needless suffering of a terminal condition.Pretty bad they need a bill for this. If someone doesnt want to live, let them go peacefully. Its better than blowing their brains out. Or crashing a car, possibly injuring others etc.

Oregon has had this for years and I believe both patient and medical professional need to agree to it.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York is set to become the latest state to legalize medically assisted suicide for the terminally ill under a deal reached between the governor and state legislative leaders announced Wednesday.
Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul plans to sign the proposal next year after pushing to add a series of “guardrails” in the bill, she announced in an op-ed in the Albany Times Union.
A dozen other states and the District of Columbia have laws to allow medically assisted suicide, according to advocates, including a law in Illinois signed last week that goes into effect next year.
New York’s Medical Aid in Dying Act requires that a terminally ill person who is expected to die within six month make a written request for life-ending drugs. Two witnesses would have to sign the request to ensure that the patient is not being coerced.
The request would then have to be approved by the person’s attending physician as well as a consulting physician.
OK, it's true....Blue states (and Canada) want to kill you.
Yet the same bunch will tell you how bad the death penalty is....Go figure.

People already have the option of doing it themselves. But doing it yourself, usually leaves a big mess for the people you leave behind to clean up. Most people facing terminal pain will gut it out..at the expense of their quality of life at the end and the expense of savings.I don't support anyone being able to take the life of another. If you want to go, do it yourself.

That's just beyond heartless.
A swift, permanent, pain free end should be everyone's choice.
And the state should not stand in their way.
And I've seen three cases where it ended up to be a big mess. And swallowing a handful of pills is no guarantee of a swift, painless, or hassle free end.I noted the experience of my friend. There was no big mess.

My granddad suck-started a shotgun (terminal cancer) and it was less of a mess when I went to clean it up than I would have figured. Very little blood.
I did find most of his brain on the window sill of the garden shed he offed himself in.
I just dug a hole (the garden shed had a dirt floor) and put it in with the sections of skull that were laying about.
We demolished the shed the next day and cut/put sod over the bare earth....In a month you could hardly tell it had been there.
We gave the shotgun to the deputy that showed up.

The problem is that as with all "progressive" policies, people don't how to draw the line.
Countries That Allow Assisted Suicide For Mental Health Issues

Palliative care existsMakes sense and it is the humane thing to do
Terminal patients should be allowed to end their pain and say……I have had enough
