Lets see --

  • let a bunch of "non violent offenders" (burglars and thieves) out of jail, check.
  • impose a lockdown of all businesses so no one is in them, check.
  • stop all "stop and frisk" of anyone violating curfew/lockdown and wearing a hoodie while carrying a crowbar, check.
  • encourage people to wear face masks, check.

What could possibly go wrong???

In the real world, in a state of emergency it's called "looting"...

quote:
The NYPD has seen a 75% increase in reports of burglaries of commercial establishments since New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a state of emergency

"Burglaries of businesses have risen in New York City under emergency measures to fight the new coronavirus, according to New York Police Department data."

But you have to look at it from the liberal point of view.
Does it make me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Does it go against common sense.

Then we should do it. No matter the cost or consequences

That's not at all surprising. After 9/11, there was an uptick of property crimes 'cause criminals are opportunists and the police were busy. Our car was safe from theft for two reasons: a bar across the steering wheel and most importantly, it had a manual transmission. I read reports of stolen Mercedes being shipped to Eastern Europe.
