Obviously stay-in-Mexico didn’t close any border, obviously did not prevent illegals from trying to come over. Obviously did nothing about 50% of illegals that simply fly in and overstay visas.
Illegals want JOBS, and more than anything it’s the low unemployment and high labor demand in US that drives them to try to get in.
2019 saw the most border encounters because labor demand was the highest in a decade and yes, because of instability in countries south of Mexico.
