I picked this one up at the local flea market yesterday for $30.00.

WW-2 made Imperial M4 M1 Carbine Bayonet in a later WW-2 made M8A1 sheath.

I suspect the reason I got it so cheap was that the leather handle had mold on it but I knew how to deal with that.

Cool. My M1 has the lugs but I've never seriously searched for the knife to go on them.

Guard....Imperial under USM4 with the flaming bomb to the left. Standard Products marked attachment plate.

Made post middle of 1943. Nice bayo at a great price!

It's amazing how many M3s and M4s were made during just a few short years. Something like 5 million total if memory serves.

I bet we could not do that today.

We probably could, but it would take some time to ramp up production.

What no one understands is just how much material the USA produced during the war. We literally were building 8000 ton freighters faster than the Germans could sink them. Seventy two hours from keel laying to launching.

We built more than the entire rest of the world combined did.

Sigh, I don't know where we would get the steel from.

We would have to reopen the shuttered steel plants.

Then, stop letting China steal our scrap, and we would do fine.
