Sex is the biological reality and more objective. Gender is made up and psychological so 50+ options just kinda bears that reality out. Interestingly, there are more than two sexes in human beings. Best answer to "are you male or female?" is "yes."

I understood what you said. 1 out of a thousand people's still a lot of people. Just because we like things short and simple doesn't mean we have the right to force our hangups on those for whom they don't apply.
