He says he realizes he will die if he doesn't. He also must know that his popularity isn't increasing because of Putin's popularity that stays steadily at around 80%.

Of interest though is the fact that Rachel Maddow, Chris Heyes, and last night Lawrence O'Donnell were all getting themselves confused over whether Navalny was having a little strike or Putin was starving him to death?

By far the biggest issue on this whole thing is the fact that America's hands are tied on further aggression against Russia until Russia gets rid of Putin and adopts Navalny as their new leader.

Doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

Russia/Putin hate was put on hold during the Trump regime. Does Biden have any intention of trying to revive it to Cold war levels? It seems that America has too many of it's own domestic problems than to be trying to interfere with a peaceful Russia. Or a peaceful China for that matter!

Opinions?

Curious that Americans are so reluctant to talk about this one.
If Navalny has no support in the US then he has no suport anywhere.
Especially not in Russia.

democracy is a good thing. Putin needs to go!

Democracy is what keeps Putin secure as Russia's leader. He holds close to 80% favourability consistently.

Navalny was never popular enough to get any more than reportedly, less than 2000 supporters in the streets.

Last nigh Lawrence O'Donnell attempted to promote damage control for the outcome by saying that Navalny's doctors told him to quit his hunger strike. We're expected to believe that he wasn't allowed to see his 'own' doctors and therefore wouldn't stop kiling himself on the word of doctors Putin allowed to see him.

And then there was the confusion of Maddow, Heyes, and company who were insisting that Putin was starving Alexei!

America desperately needs a Navalny for president (of Russia)
Putin has put US aggression on permanent hold, at least on the Ukraine front.

The US/Nato forced Russia to the current situation withe Crimea, when the existing situation was working just fine.

Did the US/Nato really think that Russia could give up the Crimean peninsula? Will the US ever stop trying to get it back?

My opinion is that you're a Putin tool.

You cannot measure public opinion in a country that's constantly more and more totalitarian.

Trump did more than that.

He kissed Putin's ass for four fucking years...and Putin stooges love it

That's a talking point you probably can't back up but I would be interested in hearing you try.

I also doubt that Trump supporters would be happy with the idea and want to support it. Trump supporters go no further than just saying that Trump was anti-war.

I think he just landed in a time in which America's options for more wars had already been eliminated.

Hey dimbulb...when you talk about Trump supporters as if you're not one of them...ya kinda expose your Russian troll status

if you are able to accept polls' results which you don't like - here they are, of Levada polling center, a "foreign agent", financed by the West...

Donald H is incorrect, Putin's approval rating was 80% right after he reunited Crimea with Russia, now it's just 60%.

but still incomarable with Navalny's 2%

by the way, how is Assange doing? Is the US still going to execute him?

I don't accept that there could be much meaninig in a poll that puts Putin's popularity down to 60%.
The reason being, as you have shown by the poll that says Navalny's is 2%. Could that indicate something closer to 98%?

Navalny's underwear was poisoned? Is Putin Mormon? Nance calls Putin a "mafia thug with nuclear weapons"

indeed, Navalny is finished already, after he has started serving as a tool of Western propaganda :)
in his best times his approval ratibg was 2%, while anti-rating was up to 50%, but now mothers will scare their disobedient children with him :)

The only reason he was even mentioned in the US was to stir up Cold War hating in Americans. That's going to have far less impact on Russia this time because they have large and powerful friends. Also, small countries are choosing to fall under the nuclear umbrellas of Russia and China because of much more favourable relations being possible than with the US.

I think it's resulted in the US not having anymore possible victims to bomb from 30,000 feet, because of other nuclear armed countries' interests in the intended US victim countries.

Even Cuba could become a Chinese naval base for nuclear armed ships if China decides to take that route as a defensive measure. It could conceivably be a trade-off for S.Korea, as was Cuba's missiles for US missiles in Turkey.

There's lots of good discussion could be had on this board if it wasn't full of petulant children screeching obscenties back and forth at each other.
