Did you know today July 14th is the day for your favorite Mac & Cheese. Whether it be from a box, homemade from scratch or anywhere in between.

Sometimes I make it from scratch, sometimes it's from a box though I'll usually add more cheese. Pepper Jack or a nacho sauce is really good. But today I made it with Velveeta.....the cheese not the brand.......and elbow macaroni. Then topped with crumbled bacon. YUM

How about you??? If you didn't make it today, there is always tomorrow for the belated day. What is your favorite recipe??

When I was young and struggling to make it on my own I would buy 4 for a dollar mac and cheese and a pack of hot dogs to survive.

I like mine smothered in hot red pepper flakes.
The bacon was amazing. But so is with nacho cheese with jalapenos.

Pepper flakes have alot of heat, but not so much flavor IMO

I sprinkle pepper flakes on everything. It is fast, easy and cheap, but if you have jalapenos and slice them up and cook them into the cheese, that is great too.

To be fair, I do use pepper flakes often.......but not to smother anything:eek:

I used to love it in my youth. Too many carbs, not enough nurtrients except for iron. Trying a keto diet for just 3 days, carbs less than 20g per day. It's a challenge but quite doable especially if you like meat. I dont even have to look and I know just half the box is WELLover 20 grams of carbs hehe

I'm into gourmet cooking. So I copy the Almazan Kitchen recipe.

Here's some food porn for you.

I am surprised the mail ran, and the garbage was picked up.

I still like to make it old school ....

no box chemical cheese
Here's a basic one from the depression. You can pretty much tweak it anyway you want..

There's tons of old school recipes out there

Yep, and I often do make it from scratch........though sometimes quicker/easier versions are a good fall back

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. If I could've eaten the stuff for breakfast, I would've. I loved it that much.

Best I ever had was from a local restaurant that did a Cajun version with crab meat in it.
I'm still trying to get the copy of that recipe right.

BTW, we do ours from scratch and use rice noodles since my wife can't do wheat.
Good grade of sharp cheddar with parma and mozzarella.

The Kwik Trip where I work has chicken and bacon and buffalo chicken mac and cheese take home meals, that I sample out to the customers. It's like being tortured because company policy doesn't allow me to taste any of it.

:eek2yum:

mozzarella and provolone are good if you like the string.

With Cajun seasoning sounds good, just not sure how it would pair with the crab. Sometimes it makes it good, sometimes they need to be kept apart.
