This just goes to show how effective counselling truly is not. My mom did some due to post traumatic stress after being in three car crashes within a year's time in 2011. I was like, "Mom, I don't mean to stomp all over your situation, but do them sessions make the road out there any less dangerous?"

There does seem to be a possibility of America turning away from mental health initiatives on account of the political right's beliefs that it's all ineffective.

All mental health programs could fall under the accusation of them being 'socialism', and it would be very close to the truth.

Social responsibility and socialism are seen by most Americans as the same.

A pastor has zero qualifications for any type of counseling or therapy. People from religious communities need to learn that there are real options for them if they are seeking help.

I don't know about all of that, but another reason why I don't see a point to counselling is that it only gives those who wrong you more to be proud of. If a rapist were to learn that their victims were in counselling because of what was done to them for example, the little rodent would then only have more to smile about and since when do such monsters deserve even more feathers for whatever cap it is that they decide to wear?
