WASHINGTON (AP) — Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi will not seek reelection to the U.S. House, bringing to a close her storied career as not only the first woman in the speaker’s office but arguably the most powerful in American politics.

Pelosi, who has represented San Francisco for nearly 40 years, announced her decision Thursday.

“I will not be seeking reelection to Congress,” Pelosi said in a video address to voters.

She started as a fund raiser and worked now deceased Sala Burton, who took over the seat after the murder of her husband Phillip Burton in Guyana after visiting Jonestown, after hearing complaints that Jim Jones was NOT allowing people to leave. State Assemblymen Scott Weiner earlier this year announced he would run for Congress if Ms. Pelosi stepped down,. There is no clear Republican Conte4nder, mainly because the S.F. Republican Party is on life support.

And with those perennial re-elections, they can gain seniority in Congress, giving them and the districts they represent tremendous power over all of the rational, competent Americans who would not elect those persons to any public office, in a million years.

Actually she served with honor and dignity. She knew how to control caucus (unlike McCarthy and Johnson). Ms. Pelosi was the FIRST Female Speaker. What pissed you people off is that she refused knuckle under to 47 and his bullshit.
