(1) Build the fence.
(2) Enforce tougher employment laws on business.
(3) Immigration reform law.
All at once, not piecemeal, or either side will renege.
1) fence is dumb
Why, because it works?
2) democrats and republicans both won't enforce the employment laws on the books, what's the point of more laws if we are not going to hold the enforcers accountable for doing their job?
So what's the point of making new laws?
3) reform? WTF do we need more immigration laws for? Name one additional immigration law we need? The problem isn't the laws, the problem is government corruption.
Agreed. We don't need to reform our immigration laws. We just need to enforce them.
Fences don't work on humans. Ask the french.
Further, we are talking about a border formed by thousands of miles of river, deserts, rocky hills, and oceans... We are not talking about a fence around a prison compound with prisoners who are under watch 24/7. It would take no more than seconds for any human to circumvent any fence made by man. If you want to secure the border you are gonna have to use a combination of air support, coast guard, and boots on the ground. Even then, at least 1/3 of your employees will be low paid employees that want the immigration to take place. And you know what that means. They'll be closing their eyes to crossings in exchange for $.
There is no point in making laws when our lawmakers and people keeping the law are for sale and making a mockery of the law.
If illegals were coming over in tanks and armored personal carriers, you might have a point. Since they are unarmed, your claim is ironic.
Is strange that the Chinese saw the value in building a wall to keep the nomads from the North out of their country, but American liberals and RINOs don't seem to get it. The Chinese kept adding to their wall and rebuilding it, so they obviously believed it had value. It wasn't a white elephant that proved to be a failure. The historical evidence shows that your claims are just plain wrong.
The Chinese built a wall. The Romans built several walls. The Israelis built a wall, and the East Germans built a wall. What has been the success rate for people trying to cross the Israeli wall?
On top of all that you admit that the system you propose will be defeated by corruption.
