"The ADL's Anti-Semitism Survey explodes the Myth that Criticism of Israel is motivated by anti-Semitism"

"The Anti-Defamation League's monumental anti-Semitism survey produced a host of insightful results.......critical of Israel's occupation policy for a very simple reason: It contradicts their value of universal human rights. Israel's occupation is seen as denying Palestinians their basic human and political rights, and liberals see this as unacceptable. Period.......These people do not have a single anti-Semitic bone in their bodies, and will not be beaten into silence by Israel's right wingers droning on about how anti-Semitic Israel's critics are.

At the same time Israel's right wingers consistently make the most horrible of mistakes by associating with European parties and politicians from the extreme right. They believe that they find allies there, because Europe's extreme right currently sponsors Islamophobia. Israel's right wingers come to the simplistic conclusion that European rightists must therefore be genuine friends of Israel, because they suffer from a profound confusion: They still haven't realized that bigotry is an illness that, when convenient, will turn against Jews as well. "

So right-wing kooks, when are you Fascists going to turn on Jews?

Those NeoNazis are already turning on the Jews. They are steadily catching up on turning against your newly adopted brethren, but right now most of them are playing "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" game. Gee, maybe Haniya can send that guy who posted under her screen name whose wife comes from Spain into one of the prisons to check if many of those incarcerated have the number 88 tattoo'd on them. In the prisons in the U.S. I once read that they had to keep these NeoNazis separate from the other prisoners.

As Martin Luther Jr. eloquently said:

"Anti Zionism is just another name for anti Semetism." :clap2:

The reality is Israel needs to grab the Jews and put them front and centre in front of it to deflect criticism of Israel, while putting their lives at risk from those who believe Israel's line.

The reality is Jews are much too diverse and educated to be pinned down to just one political viewpoint. Very well demonstrated by the fact that Jews are in the frontline in the fight against Israel and Zionism.

"Criticism of Israel is motivated by anti-semitism?"

In any broad, sweeping statement like that, there is both truth and inaccuracy in such a perspective.

Like any subjective observation such as that, the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.

A case-by-case analysis is more helpful, with the clear understanding that there is enough linkage, as a broad state of affairs, so that one must constantly be on the lookout for it.

Yes Kondor. That is the case for sure.

If you invite people to hate Jews, some will accept the offer.
If you invite people to hate anything, some people will find a reason.

But the key truth here, is that Israel offers a lot to hate. Annoyingly they never tell anyone that the whole Israel project is just one political movement, of many, and they never say: "Look, some Jews support us. More Christians do. This movement is for the exclusive benefit of Jews, but that is not their fault, because we impose these benefits, whether they like it or not."

"And very many do not."

" Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect her right to exist, its territorial integrity and the right to use whatever sea lanes it needs. Israel is one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security, and that security must be a reality.”

What MLK actually said.

That's not a myth.

The fact that it's not always the case doesn't change the fact that many times Anti-Zionism DOES come from Anti-Semitism.

True story.

Who cares. Let's all just become post-semitic -- the stories were nice -- maybe they helped, maybe they didn't -- but its time to just go to mars.

That's enlightened thinking indeed.

Still, out of the philosophy and into the real world. Who cares?

How many ways can this be counted?

Zionism is the national movement of Jews and Jewish culture that supports the creation of a Jewish homeland in the territory defined as the Land of Israel. Israel is created. Zionism is over.

What remains are people who protest the creation of the state and the Zionist ideology that brought about its creation.

Israel is recreated and strong. Zionism has done its job.

okay. and now that israel is a political entity criticism of it is somehow analogous to the belief that it shouldn't exist?

More appropriately why should the US care. we have the tech to go to mars but all we do is insert ourselves into squabbles in the middle east.

IMHO?

Critique away.

The US will always do what's best in their national interest. The US wanted Iran before there was an Israel and Israel was only a consideration after losing the Shah's regime in Iran.

Now that the US has both Israel and Iran in their grasp, and they do. Even if the Iranians think they have acted recalcitrant bride to the hungry American groom, the fix is in. Capitalism rocks. :)

I have no doubt that a decent portion of the artificial intelligence that will further the US's drive to Mars will come from an Israel that is recreated and strong.

Does that mean they will claim they are returning to Mars too, and that it all belongs to them?

You're asking about claiming.

One is a claim of the past and the other is a claim of the future.

So, claim away.

>>The highest concentration of anti-Semitic attitudes was found in the Middle East and North Africa, the survey showed, led by the West Bank and Gaza, where 93 percent of respondents held such views, followed by Iraq at 92 percent, Yemen at 88 percent and Algeria at 87 percent. The areas where anti-Semitic attitudes were least prevalent were Oceania, the Americas and Asia. In Laos, less than 1 percent of the population held such views, the lowest anywhere, the survey said.<<
