The farthest he ever got in baseball was playing Independent ball in New Mexico a couple of seasons. But years ago, he was one of the best high school players in Southern Arizona. He was playing in a Summer league that was basically the all stars from the big high schools around the city. So he's up to bat and takes that lefty uppercut swing and CRACK he hits a shot headed for the right field fence. The right fielder was shifted toward center so he had a long run but he's flying! I'm thinking "Wow that kid is fast!" He runs it down jumps up and catches it right at the fence. I said "you have to be kidding me how did he catch that?" The Dad next me said "Oh that's the best player in the city. He already has an agent, his name is Alex Verdugo".
