Zone1 My problem with Jesus...turning the other cheek for years has caused me more suffering

I do not myself believe that Jesus actually struck anyone with the whip he held, though he could have, and have been justified, while he was threatening with it, and did release animals and overturned tables with the money being collected, knowing that which the merchants did was not right. Turning the cheek is avoiding what is just retaliation, there is still justified defense any are permitted.
He picked up a whip but did not use it?

Why do you believe that?

Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.
Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said."
And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Do You answer the high priest like that?"
Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?"
John 18:20-23 (NKJV)

Luke 17:1"It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!

Matt 18:6-7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Matt 18:5-6 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Luke 17:1 It is impossible that offenses will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

Psalms 55:12-14 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
We took sweet counsel together and walked unto the house of God in company.

He picked up a whip but did not use it?

Why do you believe that?
What is mentioned is that Jesus definitely made whips. This took some time. He would have used it, it was enough to threaten others, money changers in the temple which was for God. I do not think any were foolish enough to come before him as he held the whip and lashed it. So it was threatening while he did not use it as he might to strike any, while yet letting all the animals there free to escape.

Drawn images are supposed to persuade me of what Jesus was like? Like what I see from the Bible is not enough?

maybe this will show that Christ is LOVE

Jesus answered, "I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way," that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none."
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
So Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"
Then the detachment of troops and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.

John 18:8-12 (NKJV)

But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"
When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
But Jesus answered and said, "Permit even this." And He touched his ear and healed him.

Luke 22:48-51 (NKJV)
Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
And He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "
Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were indignant
Matt 21:12-15 (NKJV)

As you read this, Christ heals, Christ rejects violence
But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?
How then, could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?"
In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me.
Matt 26:52-55 (NKJV)

So it is. It is all written this way. Who should argue against this? The gospel is showing Jesus was fulfilling prophecy, and he will fulfill it all.

It's that simple, in the headline,

I try to keep the Faith but wonder if God views me as the fool.
Remember, Jesus was referring to "life for life, limb for limb, eye for an eye" etc,. A slap on the face isn't even on the list. At the time a slap on the face was considered an insult because thats the way slaves were treated and people were seeking monetary compensation in the courts.

Jamming things up with petty bullshit. (don't ask me how I know this)

"Turn the other cheek" amounts to "sticks and stones can break my bones but names will never hurt me". It's not and never was a teaching that people can't defend themselves against violence

There is an excessive amount of evil in this world, I've experienced much of this,

Thus, "turning the other cheek" can be applied literally and symbolically.

The Bible verse does not mean we should allow ourselves to be victims or that we should allow others to hurt us. But the downside of forgiving when warranted is we do risk the other hurting us again. And it is not always a good thing or even a rational thing to give everyone who hurts us the opportunity to do it again.

I was instrumental in the founding of the Domestic Violence Center of Central Kansas and I went with the women who would be named Exec Director to see a woman in the hospital. Her husband had beaten the hell out of her and she was severely injured. We convinced her she must file a restraining order and divorce papers or next time he would likely kill her. She agreed until her fundamentalist pastor went to see her and convinced her that is was her duty to submit to her husband and forgive him. He was sorry for his offense.

She went back to him. And some months later he did beat her to death.
