Arendt argued that those who feel isolated or alienated are particularly vulnerable to joining movements that promise solidarity and a clear division between “us” and “them”.
She pretty much nails the conspiracy movement but then blows it by quoting a female philosopher, But the truth is that they are generally frightened children who cant make sense of the world around them.
I think her advice is generally sound. Sometimes you just have to cut the cord.
But it does make you pine for more innocent times. Where is Jimmy Hoffa, chemtrails and did we actually go to the moon ?
Nowadays the conspiracies are nastier and more dangerous. Cats and dogs, stolen elections, anti vax.. What next ?
