Must Blacks get Reparations from Blacks?

One topic that never seems to come up in this debate is what politicians are likely to bring reparations about.

It won't be the Democrats. If they would going to give reparations for slavery, they would have done it already. During the numerous times in the last hundred and sixty years in which Democrats held the power, there was never a serious attempt to do so, not that I remember.

At least not on the national level. But here are several major cities in which not only Democrats, but Black Democrats specifically hold the majority in city counsels and the Mayor's office. That is where the reparations might come from.

I'm not commenting on whether or not reparations should be given, since there are arguments on both sides. I'm offering a way to get them done, if Blacks and Democrats are serious about them.

These days, the Democratic Party is losing support from the black community, and if so that is why there could be a more serious attempt to do so. Normally I wouldn't worry about it, because the Senate requires 60 votes to pass a reparations bill. BUT - what if the democrat-controlled Senate abolishes the filibuster, thereby allowing them to pass whatever they want to with just 51 votes? I can see that as a definite possibility from a desperate DP.

I don't know how they would do it, black people would be part of the taxpayers who will pay for it. I can't see exempting black people from a special tax as being constitutional. But I can see a liberal-controlled Supreme Court allowing that to happen in the future, however distant that might be.

First off let’s look at the Japanese that were given reperations. They lost homes, businesses, farms.
Now let’s look at the blacks. 99% of all black slaves were sold to white traders by blacks. The most they lost is a hut and maybe a chance to use some land to hunt.
There were black slave owners, blacks that bred blacks to be able to sell slaves. We have a lot of people who migrated to this country long after slavery was abolished should they pay for something they and their descendants had no part in? We had people whose ancestors lived here but never encountered a slave or if they did they had no way of affecting them. We had those that worked to free slaves should their ancestors be required to pay? We had people who fought a war, some losing life or limb to free slaves and keep the country free, should their ancestors be required to pay? We could even point to social programs that blacks have been a part of, does that go toward the reperations or not?
All in all how do you decide who pays and how much? Should it be only those who benefited off slaves? Should it be only those in Africa who sold others into slavery? Does reperations mean reimbursement for the lose of a hut and a chance to hunt? We had whites that were treated as slaves do they become part of the reperations?

What about all the white people who lost out on increased lifetime income because a less-qualified black was given their seat in a prestigious university, or medical school, or law school….or hired for a job…..or promoted into senior management…all because all of their skin color?

You don't get to determine anything, white man. This is a case against the government. It is also not just limited to slavery. Blacks have paid and whites have gotten for the entire history of this country. This is about the thousandth thread started by some dumb ass white racist crying about reparations. The government made policies that denied blacks things, and you don't get to say a thing about who is going to pay if a decision against the government is made.

Reparations have been paid to others by this government, so why do you have a problem with blacks demanding what others have been given by the government unless you are a white racist?

Even the surviving Holocaust Jews - who lived through hell on Earth and lost their families, their homes, their livelihoods, and were often maimed for life - averaged only about $300 a month. (My step-grandfather, who lived on bugs for two years, lost his wife and child, and suffered physically the rest of his life, got around $8,000 a year in the later years.)

So, using the $300 as a benchmark given to those DIRECTLY suffering, how much should today’s blacks - who have gotten two generations of favored treatment for college educations, jobs, and promotions, and who of course were never slaves, get?
