And there were Temples there long before the Hebrews arrived. I believe the Hebrew Temple was built over Baal's, the Cannanite god..by the way most Temples are built on thr higher hills, to wit: Acropolis, Vatican Hill etc.No offense to Muslims, but Jews deserve a holy place similar to Mecca, don't you think?
The Temple was there thousands of years before Islam was even a dream much less a religion.
Well, then they built it on the land after a conquest.
Muslims have a strange habit of building Mosques on land they feel they won in battle. I don't see the implied hypocrisy.
Actually...it's really not a strange habit. Most conquerors built religious temples over the sacred sites of the conquored. Christians were notorious for planting churches after a hearty conquest.
