LOVED the book series. I wondered if a movie would ever come out, but I didn't think it would be good because the story is too in depth.
A series? Now this can tell the story.
I hope it works. If it is half as good as the book series it will be worth watching.

never saw enough programming on Apple to want to pay for it.

not a bad show from apple, it's funny but started out rather woke.
majority of the cast are minorities, they introduced a lesbian couple and then a 3-some

funny part is sec unit somehow deactivated his module that makes him obey human command and protect them so he's free yet he has not gone all terminator on them........yet

I read all the books I believe, 4 of them I think. I do believe there was a lesbian sub character in the book.

interesting, I had no idea this show was from a book but then again most shows now are from a book or a game so it makes sense, just odd how they are only 22 minutes long [minus the commercials] so it's sorta like a fill in /gap show?

I haven't watched one yet, going to today. I didn't know it was only a half hour show.
That is odd. The books were obviously full length stories. It will be disappointing if they are going to try and make a sitcom out of it.
The books are interesting, the writer gives a unique spin to A.I.

yes they made into a sitcom and the show is 30 minutes or less, E3 is barely 23, it was over before it got interesting

Well that sucks. It deserves better than that.
There was a definite comedic element in the books, but the story/action was the focus.
I say it is a interesting spin in A.I. - because although he managed to remove the module that governed him - his core programing to protect humans acts like a human instinct. Much like us, we can choose our actions, but core instincts drive us to do things. He can't help but to help humans, even though he hates them. To him, humans are stupid, lie constantly and are self destructive - all he wants is to get away from them. But everywhere he goes - he continues to run into stupid humans doing stupid things and he is forced to help them.

Watched the first episode, it is fairly close to how the first book starts.
The name "Murderbot" was not given to himself, in the book it was a slang name humans called them. Which he didn't like.
The other part that is missing, so far, is that when he connects to ships etc. like you see him do - the connection is almost like human interaction they literally speak to each other.

Watched the first 4 now - it is decent, entertaining. But it concentrates on the humans way-way-way more than the books which were pretty exclusively all from the perspective of Murderbot

fun show but less than 30 minutes, it goes by quick
this is like a quick fill gap show

the big bang theory and it's spinoff were both 30 minutes, that show went on for some 12 years

My only complaint is that the series continues Hollywood's insistent portrayal that all men are flawed, even stupid - while all women are smarter and thank God we have them or we would all be dead.
Consider the last episode.
Who saves Murderbot - twice? A woman, and then 2 women.
When a man wanted to go save Murderbot - he didn't even know how to hold a gun right. A woman had to tell him first. Then another woman had to tell him how to fire it.
Then both of the women admonished him for acting "macho" and talked about not wanting to have sex with him anymore because he acted that way.
And then when he tried to save Murderbot - he only succeeded in harming himself while the two women came in and heroically saved the day.

The thing to consider is a murderbot is like - 5 times stronger than a human. Immeasurably smarter and comes with powerful weapons on their body suit. But - nevertheless a 60 year old woman is what was needed to save him.

So much so, that the last episode is making me reconsider watching the series.
If the next episode is this woke - I won't continue the show.
