Say it ain't so Muhammad, say it ain't so. This is what real urban warfare and battles for national identity, secure borders, occupations, and legal/illegal taking for settlements looks like. It's ugly, but it's real. Hostage guards, using the apartments of sympathetic families. Who is a civilian? Who is a terrorist? Who is a freedom fighter? Who is caught up in a shit storm they'd rather not be a part of?

They were rescued from the apartment, a low-rise concrete residence like the ones where many Gazan families live, on June 8 during an audacious and deadly Israeli commando operation.

Afterward, the Israeli authorities identified the hostages’ main jailer as Abdallah Aljamal, 36, a Hamas operative who moonlighted as a journalist — or vice versa. It was a rare instance of the Israeli security services publicly identifying a kidnapper.

Mr. Aljamal, the one referred to as “Chubby Cheeks,” was writing regular dispatches for The Palestine Chronicle, a U.S.-based online publication, about the war’s terrible human toll on Gazans, as he was holding three kidnapped Israelis at gunpoint in his family’s apartment.

Mr. Kozlov has since identified Mr. Aljamal and several other captors from their photographs posted online and on social media.

All three men were kidnapped from the Nova music festival during the Hamas-led terrorist assault of Oct. 7 on southern Israel. About 250 people were abducted and taken to the Gaza Strip that day, according to Israeli officials.

First action. Then reaction. How can anyone not support Israel?

Support Israel in what exactly?

Can people support stated goals of Israel but dislike some tactics? Is supporting the rights of Palestinians equal to supporting HAMAS tactics and strategies?

If you're looking for a lazy intellectual pissing contest over the shit in the mideast, you're in the wrong place.

Outrage has been so overused of late it doesn't even register.

If you support the goals of Israel and cannot specify alternative tactics to accomplish these goals, then it makes no sense to "dislike tactics".

Since the Palestinians' own polls show overwhelming support for the Oct 7 attack and for Hamas rather than the PA to govern the territories and strong support to dissolve the PA and get rid of Abbas, then, yes, supporting the Palestinians' alleged rights is equal to supporting Hamas because there is no realistic alternative to Hamas.

The history of the region for the last 100 years is the Jews in Palestine, now Israelis, consistent efforts to live in peace with the Arabs and the Arabs, now especially the Palestinians, consistent refusal to live in peace with the Jews. If you want to see peace in the region, then you have no choice but to support Israel and reject the Palestinians' quest to continue this war until Israel has been destroyed, which means forever.

Since the Palestinians' own polls show...
Huh?

The polling firm represents the Palestinians? My understanding is that the firm has had run ins with the Palestinian Authority, which is recognized as having represented the Palestinian people.

You appear to be prone to posting propaganda and poo poo. It's why I shy away from the threads in this forum, and in threads on the mideast shit storms.

The think tank that issued that poll is located in Ramallah and has been publishing polls since the 1990's. Rejecting facts that don't support your opinions is a definition of bigotry.

Friend of yours I assume.

In my experience, most people who "dislike some tactics" misrepresent those tactics or demonstrate a lack of understanding of the conditions in Gaza.

really now?

Maybe you should broaden your experiences with people.

Maybe you could be the first to "dislike some tactics" while demonstrating accurate comprehension.

really? Which Palestinian people? All of them? GAZA? West Bank? Others?

enough with the insults in this thread.
Yes, all of them in Gaza and the West Bank, but the results shouldn't be any surprise to you since the reason the PA hasn't allowed any elections since 2006 us that it knows Hamas would win.
