Mr Baseball passes away

One of the most beloved personalities in baseball, Bob Uecker passed away at 90.
A career .200 hitter, Uke was known for his self depreciating stories about himself, his Lite Beer commercials, Major League and longtime announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers

Most people forget even a .200 hitter in the Majors is a really really good baseball player, he just sucked compared to other Professional Baseball players.

Over 843 plate appearances in six seasons, Uecker hit .200/.293/.287 with 14 home runs and 74 RBI. While offense wasn't his strong suit, he wasn't very good defensively either. In 1967, he led the National League in both passed balls (27) and errors by a catcher (11).

When asked the secret to catching a knuckleball, Uecker replied matter-of-factly, "I wait until it stops rolling and go pick it up."

God, thats funny.

The Milwaukee Brewers honored Bob Uecker with a statue located in the worst seat in the house. Upper deck corner around seats that normally sell for $1.

Well that's because he was catching Phil Niekro.

Great Line from Major League:

Bob: “the Indians with one hit… that’s it? one God-damned it?”

Announcer: “shhh you can’t say that on air!!”

Bob: “ehh nobody’s listening anyway”
