Most white Americans are descended from German settlers....But what is a "American"?

Weird, my county as well as much of Virginia, WV, TN, KY, NC, and some others is made-up of Americans....What does that even mean ancestrally?

Hey, it's the The United States Census Bureau sayin' it, not me.....I'm just perplexed about what ancestry "American" is.....I mean they already have the NAs separated out so that can't be it.

The United States Census Bureau.....It's a 2020 chart so I suspect Hispanics are under-represented.
