They do spend money in this country, but only as much as necessary. A considerable portion of their income goes back to their home countries to support people there—I don't blame them; I would do the same. However, that money leaving the U.S. does not benefit our economy. Instead, it indirectly supports China and other countries that produce cheaper goods than we do. This is a significant amount of money exiting our economy. There's a saying: 'A fool and his money will soon be parted.' In some ways, we're the world's fool—we're not watching our nickels and dimes, which can add up to millions, even billions, of dollars.

There's another old political saying: 'A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money.

What is the definition of inflation. Too many dollars chasing too few goods. When those immigrants send money out, it is fewer dollars here chasing goods. It is deinflationary. Where they send it, it is inflationary. I mean this is Econ 101.
