"Trump reacts to Israel and Hamas reaching hostage deal
From CNN's Kate Sullivan

US President-elect Donald Trump reacted to news of the deal on Wednesday, posting on Truth Social: “WE HAVE A DEAL FOR THE HOSTAGES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THEY WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY. THANK YOU!”

The incoming president claimed credit for the deal, writing that it “could have only happened as a result of our Historic Victory in November, as it signaled to the entire World that my Administration would seek Peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans, and our Allies.”

“With this deal in place, my National Security team, through the efforts of Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will continue to work closely with Israel and our Allies to make sure Gaza NEVER again becomes a terrorist safe haven,” Trump added."

Well done, President Trump. This reminds me of Iran freeing the hostages before Reagan took office.
Both Carter and Biden were weak presidents.

Six months from now, possibly sooner, it'll be game on again

He's right. The Trump effect is causing changes in destructive behavior around the world. He is perfectly justified in taking credit due.

I certainly hope that long nightmare is over. I look for a similar result re Russian/Ukraine soon.

"Trump threats ‘terrified’ Hamas into hostage negotiations: JD Vance

U.S. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance said on Sunday that the hostage-deal talks between Israel and Hamas are progressing because the Gaza terrorist organization is “terrified” by Donald Trump’s warnings.

Speaking on Fox News, Vance also shed some light on what those threats could mean in practice.

“It means enabling the Israelis to knock out the last couple of battalions of Hamas and their leadership. It means very aggressive sanctions and financial penalties on those supporting terrorist organizations in the Middle East. It means actually doing the job of American leadership,” said Vance of Trump’s comments at the end of December."

Arab officials: Trump envoy swayed Netanyahu more in one meeting than Biden did all year

‘Tense’ Jerusalem sit-down led to breakthrough in talks, with Israel and Hamas agreeing in principle to hostage deal two days later; sides now finalizing implementation details

Israel is only stopping now for a breather because they have already bounced and re-bounced the rubble that was Hamas.

Now they get to do much needed maintenance on their equipment, resupply their stockpiles, and wait and watch for Hamas to break whatever cease-fire Hamas agrees to.

Good thing about the hostages.

Who knows how long the ceasefire will last. I guess any cease in war is a good thing, but the Jews and Arabs will be fighting long after we on this board are all gone.

And Trump's given the credit

Of course

Deservedly given the credit...unless you believe it's a coincidence that the deal was reached five days before his inauguration, the deadline Trump himself imposed.

Edit- Try to fight through your TDS and give an honest, critically thought out reply.
