The Vladimir Putin of today is not the Vladimir Putin of ten to twenty years ago he has become more erratic this writer has previously outlined the case for this conclusion; and today provides another example of this behavior where Russian President's Putin announced Russia will require payment only in rubles for Russian natural gas from unfriendly countries. Such untrustworthiness in judgment is an alarming consideration for a leader that has used chemical weapons in a prior war and in his current war he is stuck, his ground forces do not have the wherewithal to change the tide of the war in Russia's favor. What now will the world be subject to at the hands of this dictator that regularly takes his conscience and puts it off to the side!

This move by President Putin is clearly a bad decision. Not allowing countries in the Free World to pay for Russian natural gas with euros or dollars is very foolish. Putin needs these currencies to pay the outstanding interest and principal payments on his outstanding sovereign debt that is continually coming due. If Russia defaults on its sovereign debt not only will this result in Russia having to pay higher interest rates for generations to come but it will for this same period weaken the confidence of investors and businesses for investing in Russia that it is a good place to do business. Plus as it stands now entities in the Free World are at their limit in stomaching buying natural gas fro Russia requiring them to buy rubles the currency of a despicable country that is murdering and acting like beasts and monsters in the country of Ukraine with their unprovoked war in order for these entities to pay for natural gas from Russia for many entities will be the straw that broke the camel's back; if need be they will turn to coal and oil for power generation rather than buy filthy rubles to buy Russian gas! Further, Russia will need euros and dollars to pay for imported medicines and other imports the Russian population will demand. The counter arguments for requiring ruble payment don't trump these crucial economic concerns!

They are trading in Yuan and China has their back.....So does India...........they are ditching the dollar............and 24 countries are trading in Yuan.

They are saying the DOLLAR IS DONE........as are the BRICS Nations..........along with many others...........hell even Saudi Arabia is trading in Yuan to China............NOT THE DOLLAR for all of it. They intend to get rid of the Dollar as the reserve currency......and our politicians have spent us into oblivion to help them do it.

What currency does China sell oil in?

China started its own crude-oil contract in Shanghai in 2018 that allows direct participation by international investors to price oil in yuan.Mar 16, 2022

Unless you LIVE with the guy, just how would you know this? From bits and pieces leaked through our corrupt media to the West?

Putin announced Russia will require payment only in rubles for Russian natural gas
Since the banks have all closed him out from exchanging currencies, what else would you expect him to take?

in his current war he is stuck, his ground forces do not have the wherewithal to change the tide of the war in Russia's favor.
How do you get stuck in a war you started? And isn't it a bit early to say Russia is losing? I mean, the USA just pulled out of a TWENTY-YEAR old war that they were NEVER winning in!

This move by President Putin is clearly a bad decision.
And your problem is . . .

He is getting desperate but that is the price you pay for fighting wars based on vague notions. It is funny as he is saying that he only wants rubles from unfriendly countries. The top ten currencies are not the Russian currency or the satellite countries that have dictators who depend on Russia to stay in power.

Still the Europeans needs that Russian gas. So they may play along. Still the Euro is as strong as the dollar.

It doesn't make sense 73 rubbles would equal to about 1 dollar at the current conversion rate. He keeps this up the rubble will take big hits. People will want the Euro and convert it to rubles. That boy is just putting a target on the back of his head.
