Probably because the military has had the best and least expensive health care in this country.
Increases in Tricare were recommended by the Simpson/Bowlws deficit panel. I thought you wanted deficit reduction?

Why is it okay to ask Public Employees to pay more, but not the military?
When I was young, and dad was serving, we just went to the Doctors on Base...do bases not have clinics and Doctors anymore? And the military can only see a doctor off base, thus needing the Tri-care?

let the public employees go to afghanistan and get their asses shot off. Our military health care should be free.

actually, I think it's the other way around. My DIL got very sick the other day,, on Tricare prime. Not one private physician would agree to see her. She had to go all the way to the Navy base in Jacksonville.

So only those that serve in theatre should get their promised benefits? What of cops or firefighters?
I think everyone's healthcare should be "free".

and sorry to hear that about your daughter in law....my parents and my now deceased mother in law have/had tricare, as their supplemental insurance for medicare, I believe it paid the nearly all of the 20% copay on medicare...they have never been denied by any doctor...even before my parents hit Medicare age, never denied....guess Doctors today are not of the same breed that they used to be and greed has somehow gotten in the way of treating people that need help?
my husband loves his VA care, pays for health insurance so that i can get on his work group policy, but has never used it....he chooses to see his Doc at the Va.

My premiums were pre-payed with 26 years of honorable Naval service. I, nor you, have not gotten free health care since retiring. I don't mind a modest increase in Tricare premiums, but for the POTUS to threat vetoing the defense authorization act due to congress not putting in his large increase is BS.
I have an ortho consult from my PCM and can't get in to see the docs at Walter Reed. I'm finding that lots of civilians are no longer taking Tricare.
Asking those that have sacrificed the most to make the first PPACA tax payment is ludacrous. Police and fire fighters (paid and the majority volunteers, you remember) get to go home every night.

still find the ''denied due to tricare'' unconscionable...the doctor refusing is living the cushy good life, probably never served a day of his life, while others like you, who put in 26 years, probably some war time too, bear witness to our Constitution and the protection of it and defense of every soul in this country...and the Doctor refuses you as a patient because he loses a mere 10%-20% at the most, of the full price insurance companies may pay....let the public employees go to afghanistan and get their asses shot off. Our military health care should be free.

seriously...who the heck would even want that person as their Doctor???
...and your corporate owners thank you. When I was young, and dad was serving, we just went to the Doctors on Base...do bases not have clinics and Doctors anymore? And the military can only see a doctor off base, thus needing the Tri-care?
They do. Retirees use Tricare and Tricare Prime. I pay less than $600 a year for me and my children (not my LEGAL spouse though).
We can afford an increase, especially if it means keeping other vital services. The military IS about sacrifice after all.
