Mob scene/long delays at Chicago O’Hare Airport. Is this normal?

I warned you folks back at the tail end of covid that businesses that learned that they could get by with fewer employees would continue to get by with fewer employees by design. This isn't about wages or people willing to work. Crappy customer service is the new normal. Our Walmart uses this excuse all they time, but yet Walmart never has any job openings here either. Same pretty much in most big box businesses.

Scrappy customer service should be expected when the wages are what Walmart pays. Weve forgotten you get what you pay for.

$35K a year for full time work isn't crappy in our area. $17.50 an hour is $5 more than our state minimum wage. It is slightly better than the average service sector wage. The problem isn't Walmart's wages. The problem is that we have an educational system that churns out people who think that they should be able to own homes and new cares and everything else people who go to college can have without going to college.

35 grand per year is poverty. No other way to look at it. Thats in reality a slap in the face. Walmart is lucky anyone shows up for that.

I’m at the Chicago O’Hare Airport… first of all. I have to say it is a nice looking airport. There’s plenty of restaurants and it’s quite large. A lot better than the shit hole LAX airport.

By the way, I was in Las Vegas for three weeks ….the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport is one of the best in the country in my opinion props to them.

But let’s talk about the O’Hare airport. How many people here have experienced problems. Well let me say that a lot of flights are delayed not just mine and it’s created a very mass group of people just rushing around. Restaurants are full. People seem pretty agitated.

In the past two years, I spent over one year in Cambodia and Thailand. I’ve never experienced any problems at the Airports of these countries. I mean we’re talking about Cambodia here. OK that’s according to many people a “Third World country.” Yet their Airport was pretty sufficiently managed.

Hats off to the wonderful men and women of the TSA, the restaurant and janitor workers at the Chicago airport. I think the problem is with management. I think it’s a combination of stupidity by the airline managers and the airport managers. Either way something is off at O’Hare International Airport.
I’d had some family fly in from CO and Mississippi yesterday they both had major delays, there were some big storms all along the east coast

Sure there is another way to look at it if you don't want to be a snob. a husband and wife making $35K each puts them above the median household income.

Its the usual chaos that follows the Trump administration around.

We were sat in the middle and that's the view both ways. Clean, large airport.

Some of those in here get seemingly dumber every post. Simply wow! Approaching the Care-level stupid on the scale of lunacy. Obvious Leftist board maggots trying to appear normal at times. No siree Bob, the Stain shines through. Always.

The lesson from this thread should be don't fly American Airlines. They are the absolute worst airline in the U.S., and if you have problems, especially on a late flight (all the competent employees are home in bed by then) you will be screwed.

I encountered this same problem in Dallas of all places, the hub of AA. Their customer service was third world level, and their "solution" was to have me wait for a day and half before I got a flight to my local airport (all the passengers in front of me got all the empty seats before me for the next 24 hours). I instead caught a flight to an airport a few hours away early the next morning and finished the journey on an Amtrak from there. The solution was for them to book me on another airline, but I was not thinking of this. My mistake, and not to be repeated.

Never, ever, fly AA. You've been warned.

70 grand for 2 can skimp by barely without saving yes. Add even 1 kid no way. Awful.
