Apparently they had the power to close them also but did not.......meanwhile the little guy gets killed. This is why people hate politicians, talk out of both sides of their mouth. Apparently mask wearing wasnt enforced either. Nothing but hypocritical cult Run by DFL donors, casinos remained open through Minnesota shutdown - Alpha News (alphanewsmn.com)
I guess you didnt know that the Red Skins of the United States have a much higher immunity to Chinese things than the rest of US do...

NO! Legally the state governments have ZERO jurisdiction over reservations, which are under federal jurisdiction and protection.
State governments can not at all regulate reservations.
Why do you think there are gambling casinos on reservations in states that do not allow gambling?

Technically reservations can be completely sovereign nations in effect.

Interesting news if you ignore the fact that Native American casinos do not cater to only all Native customers.
Quite the opposite is true.

I read the article ... it confirms Rigby5's claim ...

Pretty anemic donations for a governor's race ... how do those numbers compare to Agri-business? ...

Casinos are major breeding grounds for air-borne infections ... some of the worst colds and flu I've caught over the past ten years were right after a night out gambling ... I'm staying out until I get vaxxed ... sooner the better, I have clean clothes stacked on the floor because my dresser drawers are packed with $100 bills ... annoying ...

Nathan M. Hansen on Twitter: "Minn. Statute on point on ability of @GovTimWalz to shut down tribal restaurants and bars. Also see 25 usc 231 https://t.co/8iiwBUoYNt https://t.co/2xEuFV2Dkq" / Twitter ,,you didnt read either....that is from the article stating he can close em down

Federal law always overrides States law where the US Constitution explicitly says it does ... "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;" --- Article I, Section 8, "Clause" 3 ...

The article says this is how the judge ruled ... thus tribal casinos were allowed to stay open ... yes, I did read the article, how else would I know the campaign contributions ...

ETA: I'm assuming the casino near where I live is off reservation, because they had to follow the Governor's orders or lose their liquor license ... reservation lands are really rough, timber land, there's only so much that can be done cutting a road into a cliff face ... so the Nation cut a deal with the State to build down along the I-5 ... and gave up some of the Federal protections ...

I'm sure the authors know local law better than you do.....

Minnesota tribes were the first in the nation to negotiate and sign gaming compacts with a state government. Both the tribes and the state agreed to limit casinos to video games of chance (slots) and blackjack. Additionally, both parties agreed that the compacts should be effective in perpetuity.

Minnesota has negotiated 22 tribal-state compacts with 11 Indian tribes, resulting in the establishment of 18 casinos in the state. The class III games permitted under these compacts are blackjack and video games of chance.

The compacts provide for inspection and approval of machines by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, licensing of casino employees, machine payout percentages, and regulation of the play of blackjack. Gambling - Tribal State Gaming Compacts (mn.gov) Now if they can do all that it follows they can shut em down in a health emergency

There is nothing in the article on a judge ruling they can stay open....if you read it you dont read very well

This document seems silent on the matter of shut-downs due to health emergencies ... it's all about the conduct of the games itself ... could you be more specific as to which written State law is being violated? ...

"However, Judge Sara Grewing [Second Judicial District, MN] found that “there is no basis for this Court to conclude that the Governor of Minnesota has the authority to regulate the business activity of a separate sovereign nation that is entitled to self-determination under federal law.”"
