Prejean, a blonde student, was one of the favorites to win the Miss USA title at the pageant held on Sunday at the Planet Hollywood hotel and casino in Las Vegas and shown live on TV.

Having negotiated earlier rounds of modeling in a swimsuit and evening gown, she was down to the final 15 and had to answer a single question from one of the panel of five judges.

Prejean picked celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who is openly gay and calls himself 'queen of all media'.

Hilton asked her :'Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?'

Prejean paused for a moment before replying: 'Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage.'

She continued: 'And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.

'No offence to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be - between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.'

'You dumb bitch!' Miss USA beauty pageant turns ugly as Perez Hilton insults Miss California over gay marriage slur | Mail Online

Perez called her a dumb bitch and said he would rip her tiara off if she had won.

My question is this. Was she so wrong to say this?

Who was more wrong? Her to say how she felt or Perez to call her a dumb bitch?

Doesn't make any sense. She talks about how wonderful it is that Americans can choose gay marriage or straight marriage, then goes on to say that only straight marriage should be allowed. I'll side with Hilton solely because Prejean managed to directly contradict herself in one sentence. She and Miss Teen SC should have a discussion about maps.

Sure it does. No contradiction.

She said, "It's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage."

She continued: 'And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.

People can believe what they would like. And she believes a certain way.

How is that a contradiction?

How is that a contradiction?

If she thinks the ability to choose between the two is "great," why does she favor legislation that would prevent people from making that choice?

It's her choice. She said it was how she was raised and it's what she believes.

Remember...we do have the right to choose our view on a subject.

It's her choice. She said it was how she was raised and it's waht she believes.

Remember...we do have the right to choose our view on a subject.

That's not what I'm saying; I have no opinion on the issue either way.

What she said is contradictory. The choice is "great," according to her, but she doesn't believe that people should be able to make it.

Dude, you need to go back an read the article again. She didn't claim to favor legislation. She said it's great that people have the choice, but that she thinks it should be between a man and a woman. She didn't say, "I favor legislation..."

And anyway, she's right.

There are babies that grow up to be straight, and some that grow up to be gay, but they all came from a man and a woman....every single one of them.

No..choice is "great" but she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

English is your first language right?

go back and read
she didnt say that
Uh... vision problems?

"'Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage.'

She continued: 'And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman."

Thank you for proving our point.

It makes perfect sense. She talks about how wonderful it is that Americans CAN CHOOSE gay, or straight marriage, and states that SHE CHOOSES straight marriage.

How did she contradict herself?

No..choice is "great" but she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.
Umm... that's what I said. Choice is great but we should ban one of the options (thereby eliminating the "choice.")

English is your first language right?
All indications are that I speak English quite proficiently, thanks.
